Today we remember a trailblazer. We send condolences to her family.
As reported in the Palm Beach Post, "Throughout her life, Peggy empowered other women! When there was only one county courthouse, she contracted to open a branch, Evatt’s Auto Tag Agency, in Northern Palm Beach County for auto and license renewal. This venture led her into politics, where she used her talents to make a change.
Peggy was president of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party, assistant supervisor of elections, and finally became the first woman county commissioner in 1976! Peggy broke the glass ceiling for women in politics!"
You paved the way for us all, Peggy. Thank you for serving democracy. May we learn from your example.
