  • Your vote counts

Why We Vote Voting is the most important thing that we do as a citizen and our job as an active Democrat is to help maximize the voter turnout for the Democratic candidate. The Republicans are working hard to make sure YOU don't vote. Be knowledgeable about the voting process. The first, best source is the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, a non-partisan office currently held by Democrat Wendy Sartory Link . Visit the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Website at: www.pbcelections.org The most dramatic and proven way to increase voter turnout is to have Democrats Vote-by- Mail or VBM. This was previously called Absentee Ballot but the name was changed because it is not necessary for a person to be out of town on voting day. A key effort for both the County and State Democratic organizations is to maximize the number of people signed up. The following is summary description of the process and its benefits. How to Vote by Mail Sign up yourself and all other Democrats for VBM by calling 561-656-6208 or online at www.pbcelections.org . NEW THIS YEAR: Under the current Florida Laws, Vote-by-Mail requests are valid through the end of the calendar year of the next regularly scheduled general election (November 8, 2022). Voters who wish to receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot for 2023 through 2024 elections will be required to submit a mail ballot request after November 8, 2022. Your full name, address, date of birth, Florida Driver License or ID number, or the last four digits of the elector's Social Security number, whichever may be verified in our records Your mailing address (if applicable; ballots cannot be forwarded. Be sure to provide your current mailing address.) Your voter registration number (optional) The election or elections for which the Vote-by-Mail ballot is being requested Your Signature (written request) Voter's name and home address, date of birth, Florida Driver License or ID number, or the last four digits of the elector's Social Security number, whichever may be verified in our records Requester's relationship to the voter Requester's name and address Requester's Driver License number, ID number, or the last four digits of the requester's Social Security number (if available) Requester's signature (for written requests) Why Vote by Mail Registered Democrats, as a whole, had a turnout of about 75% in 2016 Democrats who requested to Vote by Mail (absentee ballot), and then chose to vote either by Mail, at Early Voting, or on Election Day, had a voter turnout that was close to 92%, a significant difference. Getting more Democrats to request ballots for Voting by Mail is critical to win future elections by improving turnout. Voters have time to research candidates. Allows time to read, think about, and answer issue questions. Help other voters know who to vote for in non-partisan races. The arrival of a ballot is a reminder of primary and local elections. GOTV phone calls are reduced once the ballot is received by SOE. Avoids risk of bad weather, illness, or other emergencies on Election Day Avoid long lines at Early Voting and Election Day. You can bring your signed and sealed ballots into the Supervisor of Elections. Free up your time on Election Day to volunteer with a campaign.

  • FACTS: Inflation Reduction Act

Three things everyone should know about the Inflation Reduction Act: This week President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act – with this law, the American people won and special interests lost. Here are the three things everyone should know: 1. Democrats are lowering health care, prescription drug, and utility costs for working families. 2. Democrats sided with the American people and Republicans sided with special interests. Every single Republican opposed requiring big corporations to pay their fair share, and lowering costs for families. 3. President Biden and Democrats demonstrated that the government can work for working families. Read President Biden’s full op-ed here. Inflation Reduction Act is incredibly popular with voters: Morning Consult / POLITICO polling released this week shows that key provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act including capping prescription drug cost increases, allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices, and reducing the deficit all receive at least +60 net approval. Navigator Polling re leased today shows two out of three Americans support the Inflation Reduction Act, and even a majority of Republicans support many of the key provisions of the law. Every congressional Republican sided with special interests to vote against this popular legislation. President Biden and Democrats rack up win after win: President Biden and congressional Democrats have beat special interests to deliver a series of game-changing wins for American families including: Inflation Reduction Act to lower prescription drug, health insurance, and energy costs, and fight inflation – all while reducing the federal deficit and finally making big corporations and billionaire tax cheats pay their fair share. CHIPS and Science Act to lower costs, create American jobs, and increase competitiveness with China. PACT Act to ensure veterans get the health care benefits they’ve earned. Safer Communities Act to enact Gun reform for the first time in 30 years. Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to fix our roads and bridges. American Rescue Plan to get us out of the pandemic by creating millions of jobs, funding our vaccination campaign, and reopening our schools . Court Appointments Appointed the first African American woman to the Supreme Court, plus more than 75 federal court judges have been confirmed, more than any president since President John Kennedy, including a record number of women and minorities. Gas prices are falling, now below $4 a gallon on average, and we have one of the best jobs markets in history as unemployment is matching a 50-year low. Click Here for State-By-State Fact Sheets

  • ALERT: Brian Mast’s Voting Pattern Hurts Floridians!

. We have all heard the expression, “Actions speak louder than words.” This rings true in politics as well. Politicians’ actions, or lack thereof, can be strong indicators of their support of their constituents. Congressman Brian Mast votes and campaigns on hot-topic issues to spur support from his voters. However, integrity and morality are not always his primary concern. In fact, many of his votes obstruct the progress of the Biden Administration. He is not a problem solver, but an obstructionist. His votes have mostly aligned with the GOP 90.6 percent of the time in his career as Congressman and 100 percent in the 117th Congress (2021-22). Mast campaigned on issues which protect the environment, make healthcare more affordable, and improve the economy, but he has done the opposite. In 2020, Mast opposed legislation protecting labor, combating brutality and racial discrimination by police and negotiating lower prescription drug prices. He voted against protecting birth control , stopping oil companies from price gauging , capping insulin prices at thirty-five dollars a month , and funding to boost baby formula production. His votes in Congress favor the wealthy 86 percent of the time . Mast's campaign for re-election has not been honest. For example, his 2018 campaign website stated that he would protect “Medicare benefits and vote to expand access to treatments”. However, in December of 2021, he voted against the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act that would delay and cut multiple Medicare provider payments scheduled for January 1, 2022. Mast openly states that the 2020 election was stolen and voted NOT to certify the election . He voted with 100+ Republicans to obstruct a certification of a free and fair election. This fact, should immediately disqualify him from running for re-election or hold any public office. Brian Mast is not truthful about his accomplishments and his failure to fulfill his campaign promises speaks volumes. A three term Congressman does not deserve another chance. He attempted to disrupt a peaceful transfer of power. It is time for change. Consider his votes in Congress before you head to the polls. Congressional District 21 deserves a new representative who can truly solve the problems of south Floridians. Vote Blue November 8, 2022! *North County Democratic Club supports students in internships. Our guest writer, Lily Stewart is pursuing her BA in Political Science in the Fall of 2022.

  • The Rick Scott – Marco Rubio Agenda: Killing Social Security & Medicare

The Rick Scott – Marco Rubio Agenda: Killing Social Security & Medicare NEWS Would you support a plan that “sunsets” Social Security and Medicare within five years? Because that’s exactly what Senator Rick Scott’s GOP agenda is proposing. First, let’s clarify what Republicans mean when they say they want to “sunset” programs like Social Security and Medicare. A “sunset provision” means that funding for Social Security and Medicare would expire automatically — in the case of Scott’s plan, in just five years. In other words, if Scott gets his way, Social Security and Medicare would cease to exist. So, what would that mean for you and your family? In Florida alone, nearly 5 million people — almost 25% of the population — rely heavily on Social Security and Medicare to cover the rising cost of rent and pay for routine medical expenses. These programs are not just supplemental income for a handful of Floridians — they are the backbone of our state’s economy. Seniors who have paid their fair share into these programs for decades shouldn’t have to deal with Scott’s threats to snatch their livelihoods out from under them as a political stunt ahead of the midterm elections. But Scott isn’t the only Florida Republican who would like to get rid of Social Security and Medicare. His fellow senator, Marco Rubio, has a lengthy record of fighting to cut the benefits that Florida’s seniors count on. In 2010, Rubio ran for Senate on a platform of massively cutting Social Security benefits by raising the retirement age and reducing cost-of-living increases. He falsely claimed that Social Security would “bankrupt” the nation, ignoring the fact that Social Security is an earned benefit that doesn’t add a single penny to the federal deficit. When Rubio ran for president in 2016, he once again called for raising the retirement age to 70 — a position so extreme that even Donald Trump rejected it! Rubio also enthusiastically supported a plan to privatize Medicare, which would end the program as we know it. In 2017, just before voting for a massive tax handout to the wealthy, Rubio referred to Social Security and Medicare as “the drivers of our debt” and called for “structural changes” to the programs. That’s Washington-speak for “massive benefit cuts for seniors.” Rubio believes we can afford to give endless tax cuts to his corporate donors, but we can’t afford our own earned benefits that keep over 22 million Americans out of poverty. Why is Rubio so dead set on gutting Social Security and Medicare, even though that’s incredibly unpopular with voters across Florida? The answer lies in a 2011 speech he gave at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. In the speech, Rubio said that Social Security and Medicare “weakened us as a people” because “it was no longer necessary to worry about saving for security because that was the government’s job.” Rubio wants to take us back to a time before Social Security and Medicare, when over 50% of American seniors had incomes below the poverty line. When it was every man and woman for themselves. When your only option if you became disabled, lost a family breadwinner, or outlived your savings was moving into the poor house. Rubio is on the ballot this November. Everyone who cares about the future of Social Security and Medicare should pay close attention to his record — and vote accordingly. • Florida Democratic Party Making History

Today, the Florida Democratic Party announced the launch of Blue Shift Florida, a $15 million statewide organizing effort. Blue Shift Florida represents the Florida Democratic Party’s first ever statewide coordinated campaign. With record investments in organizing, voter registration, voter protection, and data infrastructure, Blue Shift Florida will build the foundation for Democratic unity, and institutionalize our vision to build a Democratic Party that can compete and win in Florida in 2022 and beyond. “Nothing like this has ever been done in Florida. The record investments that we are making are part of a long-term strategy to unite and mobilize all Florida Democrats. Blue Shift will build the foundation to institutionalize unity among all our candidates, county party organizations and stakeholders, year-round work and staffing during on and off years, develop a joint strategy and budget, and foster a team organizational approach where all participants assume responsibility and benefit together," said Florida Democratic Party Chair Manny Diaz. "Blue Shift will register voters, mobilize Democrats for races at all levels, sustain itself over time and make smart and efficient investments. Blue Shift will compete in all 67 counties building out neighborhood teams across Florida. This $15 million effort is just the start, and with the unity shown today by our candidates and stakeholders, I have no doubt that we will Shift Florida Blue,” continued Diaz. Blue Shift will be funded with contributions from the Florida Democratic Party, U.S. Senate candidate Val Demings, the campaigns of gubernatorial candidates Charlie Crist, Nikki Fried, and Annette Taddeo, the leadership committees for Florida Senate Democrats and Florida House Democrats, the campaigns of Cabinet candidates, labor unions, and other state and national affiliated organizations. Quotes from Blue Shift Florida supporters: Representative Val Demings “I’m proud to work hand-in-hand with Democrats throughout the state to build a bilingual, grassroots movement that will take back Florida,” said Chief Val Demings. “We are fighting from the Panhandle to the Keys, leaving no community untouched and no voter behind in our fight to protect Florida’s families, protect constitutional rights, and elect people committed to that fight, up and down the ballot. We are in it to win, and together I know we will.” Representative Debbie Wasserman Schulz "Florida Democrats are united in battling the barbaric Republican policies that punish communities of color, women, LGBTQ+ families and children. We will achieve this by rallying behind a Blue Shift Florida grassroots campaign that competes across the state with major investments in voter registration and protection efforts to win in 2022 and beyond. While Republicans strip women of their reproductive rights and ignore families' kitchen table needs, Democrats fight to lower costs, tackle climate change, keep the pandemic at bay and create high-paying jobs. Blue Shift Florida will deliver that winning message throughout our election season." Representative Charlie Crist “Elections in Florida are about turnout, reaching voters in every corner of our Sunshine State. Blue Shift marks the earliest start to a coordinated Democratic statewide effort, ever. United, we will run the most coordinated field campaign Florida has ever seen, win up and down the ballot, and prove that this remains the most competitive swing state in the country.” Nikki Fried, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture “Florida has become one of the least affordable places to live in the country. Assaults on our freedoms, from our freedom of speech to a woman’s right to choose, are being eroded at an alarming pace. We can no longer afford to suffer from a Governor and state leaders that care more about their own political careers than the well-being of the people that they were elected to represent. That is why we must all stand strong, together, with a unified voice, and with a clear message: we will not surrender our liberty. We will not give up without a fight. The front line of this battle for our nation’s heart, soul, and spirit runs from Miami to Pensacola. It’s right here in Florida. I am proud to stand with the Florida’s Democratic Party to lead this fight. I hope you will join us.” State Senator Annette Taddeo "I’m proud to join the Florida Democrats Blue Shift program. This last legislative session and now the leaked draft ruling from the Supreme Court feel like we are in a 1950s horror movie. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done and the only way we can accomplish it is by investing early and making sure we reach as many people as possible. The last time a top of the ticket Democrat won in Florida was 2012 because of the overwhelming grassroots support that President Obama was able to generate. In order to win, we need to get back out to every corner of Florida and win back a diverse coalition of voters so that we can truly make our state work for everyone." Florida Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book "As Republicans continue their efforts to strip Floridians of our rights and freedoms, Democrats are uniting, organizing and making record investments to build a solid foundation for victory. Florida Democrats fight every day to provide economic relief to Floridians struggling with the growing affordability crisis, to expand Medicaid, fully fund public schools, keep our communities safe, promote equality, and protect women's reproductive rights. Blue Shift Florida will pave the way for those winning Democratic messages to reach voters, motivating them to the ballot box in 2022 and beyond.” Florida House Democratic Leader Evan Jenne "The Florida House has become a breeding ground for culture wars and bad policy. Our residents struggle to live in a state where Republicans are constantly taking away our freedoms while doing nothing to make Florida more affordable. That’s is why it’s more important than ever for Democrats to unite and build real, long-term infrastructure to support our candidates up and down the ballot. Blue Shift is the beginning of our collective effort and we are proud to be a part." Lucy Sedgwick, President and CEO of Ruth’s List Florida "Ruth's List Florida was founded on the premise that early support of candidates, from organizing to fundraising, is crucial to victory. That's why we're especially excited to be a part of Blue Shift - the earliest start to a midterm statewide coordinated effort by Democrats in Florida history. With the Supreme Court about to overturn Roe v. Wade, and Florida's 15-week abortion ban going into effect this summer, the stakes couldn't be higher. That's why we're working to elect a record number of Democratic pro-choice women this cycle, and with this coordinated effort, we will be part of charting a new course for Florida's future." Adam Hattersley, candidate for Florida CFO “I’m so excited to be a part of Blue Shift, the Florida Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign, for the 2022 elections. As a combat veteran, I know the importance of early planning and investment to make sure the mission gets accomplished successfully. Blue Shift is about EVERYONE that makes up the Democratic Party, with a level of coordination never before seen in a midterm – and is ready to get our boots back on the ground so we can all work together to safeguard Florida’s future.”
